The Ultimate Guide To Acne- Alternative Medicine And AcneIn the alternative medicine acne is not necessarily seen as a skin disease. In this world holistic approaches are the way to go. By this theory acne is more related to a non efficient digestive system rather than simply the skin. This basic principle means that the skin is understood as a part of the mechanism that helps get rid of harmful toxins from the body. The focus thus shifts on the creating of a viable digestive system which will eliminate all the toxins through the kidneys and liver. Obviously the most important factor here is diet. There are many voices out there that claim that the acne is nothing than the organism's reaction to an overdose of carbohydrates and sugar. The basis for this claim lies in the fact that acne is a disease found mostly in the Western world. The statistics are there and cannot be denied. Further still there cannot be any racial claims that some races are more prone to acne than the others. In the United States all the African American, Native American, Hispanic or Caucasian population democratically share their pimples. Obviously the reasons for the sudden outbreak of acne must lie in the Western style of living. Among culprits the diet and the sedentary habits are mostly blamed. To this date there hasn't been any real study to see how exactly the diet can affect acne. The research done is almost useless. You can find a study showing that chocolate does not affect the acne condition. That study IS useless. The whole diet issue must be addressed not just by random factors which alone cannot generate this sort of condition but as a single entity. In the alternative medicine acne treatments are called in a different way. They are called detoxification programs or detox programs. There is quite a literature in this field, but most of them rely on a creating a balanced, low in calories, usually vegetarian type of diet. Also it is quite a custom to create a holistic approach which includes some sort of psychological treatment or some sort of motivational techniques. To resume alternative medicine to diet advice would be a gross understatement though. There are also alternatives that are very similar to those proposed by traditional medicine and further still some cures proposed by the alternative medicine have crossed boundaries and are now recognized as viable treating methods. Now let's take a closer look on what exactly the alternative medicine has to offer. Obviously the priorities invoked first are to create a self balancing organism. This is achieved by setting the right conditions for the body to heal from the inside out. Carefully crafted vitamin boosts, elimination of slow digesting food, setting a proper timetable for meals. All of these are part of treatment. Of course besides the diet there are herbal remedies. These herbs have a long history of usage throughout time and there really isn't any new addition to the arsenal for almost centuries. Burdock, yellow dock, red clover or cleavers are all used. The interesting part is that although these remedies are frowned upon by "decent" doctors, no one has ever bothered to actually make some tests to see if they actually do what they are supposed to do. The kind of activism and aura that surrounds alternative medicine also has a different dimension. A political one to be more exact. Nowadays a worrying trend can be easily observed. There is a new "managerial" approach towards medicine and patients are now seen as customers. This transforms doctors in nothing more than salesmen. The plain truth that hits if you look at the problem this way is the fact that drug companies have absolutely no reason to study diets as long as there is no final product to sell. Basically drug companies would go bankrupt if all the people were healthy, thus the approach nowadays is to remove the effects of a disease rather than curing it. A chronic patient is a loyal customer. I am not the first to make this chain of deduction. This is perhaps the reason for which I recommend alternative medicine. These people want you healthy, because you see the agenda behind this sort of activism is radically different from that of the drug companies. What you are being sold is not a mere drug, but a lifestyle, a healthy one to be more precise. The activism presented above is only a wing in the larger vegetarian movement, but there are a few other fields with a rather more humble agenda. Let's take a look at another interesting alternative medicine field, more precisely at homeopathy. This is a rather strange science indeed. The basic principle behind it is the fact that it takes a bullet to take out a bullet. Typically a homeopathic remedy will consist from a chemical which in very high dosage would have the exact same effect on the body as the disease itself. The theory is that if this particular substance is taken in a very small amount it will have some curing. This is a rather oversimplified description of homeopathy. What makes this field so attractive though is the way in which they decide the suitability of one drug for a patient. There is some serious psychological profiling taking place which in turn means that the doctor himself must be an expert in profiling people. For example for the common acne the doctor will first try to detect your phobias: are you afraid of water, are you afraid of closed spaces, do you sweat at night, are you the nervous type. Based on these questions alone the doctor will subscribe some medicine. Although the effects of homeopathy are far from being proved, it does have one major asset versus traditional medicine. It has absolutely no side effects.
