Acne During PregnancyAcne during pregnancy is quite a common occurrence. What stands apart in this condition though is the fact that many traditional alternatives suddenly disappear. The reason should be quite obvious. Many drugs used to fight acne enter the blood stream and cab affect in a negative way the health of the fetus. Typically acne during pregnancy will occurs in the first three months. This is a period of great hormonal changes and progesterone excretions are quite high. Progesterone is a androgen type of hormone and thus leads to increased quantities of sebum on your skin. After these three nightmare months estrogen replaces progesterone as the main hormone and acne almost always miraculously disappears. Reading these lines you may very well think that you can simply outwait acne. This is true indeed, but there are options out there that can help you stop acne altogether while taking care of your baby. Caring for your child begins way before the pregnancy itself. By the moment you get pregnant you should have a clean body, free of harmful toxins. Family planning is a key issue here, unfortunately though not everybody can decide when to have their baby. Nature has a way of taking all of us by surprise. If such a thing does occur, stop all the treatment at once, antibiotics included. This is the only case in which I promote the sudden stop of an antibiotic treatment. The antibiotic treatment is a very serious one, because it can cause several very nasty side effects if interrupted. The most important of them is the creation of drug resistant bacterial strains. These are the nightmare of the modern medicine as several diseases which were thought to be eradicated reemerged in an indestructible fashion. Why are antibiotics so damaging to the fetus in the first place? Tetracycline can damage on a permanent basis the bones and the teeth of your unborn child. Several other antibiotics have similar effects. As a matter of fact only erythromycin is seen as a safe pregnancy antibiotic drug. The problem with this drug though is the fact that almost all the bacteria infecting your skin is immune or resistant to it, which makes it rather useless to begin with. The other topical medicines prescribed can also be harmful. Topical retinoids, more specifically can trigger abnormalities in your unborn baby. I am not sure if you understand the magnitude of this statement, if its topical it means that is used directly on your skin. The danger is there because some of these substances will enter the blood stream. Oral isotretinoin laso has some serious damaging effects. By now some sort of panic most have engulfed you, but don't worry there are ways to have an acne free skin during pregnancy. The answer lies in tea tree oil. Yup this is the saver. This herbal ointment has been used for centuries for treating skin blemishes and it still delivers. You must use it on a consistent basis though to reap the benefits from it. Of course the range of alternatives is wider, but the tea tree oil has proven the best to reduce the intensity of acne during pregnancy, if not removing it altogether. Well the good part of all these alternative methods is the fact that they don't really have any side effects, so you can always give them a try. At least they will cure you from boredom and who knows maybe from acne too. There is a more serious side to this story though. Steer clear from detox programs while pregnant. Detox programs are hypocaloric, common sense should tell you that now you must eat for two, so please feed yourself properly. It can still be a vegetarian diet, but in this part of your life carbohydrates are your friends. Altogether acne during pregnancy is a rather normal thing to happen. Some women may experience it even if they never had an outbreak ever in their life. For these cases a cosmetic approach will do just fine, because in the end the body will regulate itself and acne will disappear entirely without much intervention. For more serious cases though, in order to prevent scarring, surgical operations may be the answer. These are not a long term solution, but can definitely help in those three hellish months. In the end it is all a matter of what you importance you give to the disease itself. Try to see it as a natural part of the process. Sometimes simple acceptance and a tea tree oil wash every once in a while is all that is needed. Follow your own priorities, but always remember that the health of the baby always comes ahead of acne.
